The following is an update sent to the Trust by Sra. Anita Mollet.
“We have to tell you the sad news that Rony, the oldest of the residents, died at the end of September. In years past he had had crises, spending weeks in hospital, but this time, one afternoon, he became withdrawn and during the night he passed away. He had lived several years more that the medical prognosis. He is now resting at peace.
Here in Piura we are still quite restricted, above all the elderly who may not leave their homes. Consequently, for me to stay in touch, I depend on the cameras in the Home and I speak on the telephone, several times every day. It is not the same as being there in person, but it works well enough. Thankfully, the residents are staying well. The members of staff know the routine and have worked for several years with the children and older residents. The general state of the residents is remarkably good; God willing, it will stay that way.
We are now trying to strengthen and put into action the Physical Therapy area. Donations, especially of food, are beginning to arrive again and we have also managed to get diapers and, more recently, medicine, which is the most costly category of supplies. Everything is being coordinated by telephone.
I hope that we will soon be allowed to go out and thus to return to the former routine, particularly to be able to take the residents on outings.
We are now preparing the Annual General Meeting at which we will elect a new Committee. Everything will have to be “virtual”. I have still not got used to that, but it is how everything works for the moment.
I hope to have given you an idea of how the Home is running.”
Just a huge, “Thank you” for the great job that you are doing on our behalf! It is very much appreciated.
I am so sorry to hear that Rony has died. 2020 has been a bad year for all of us. You are all being especially courageous. So I say well done and I send all good wishes to everyone
the pictures of my visit many years ago are still on my wall. Roni is there with his never ending smile. So sad to hear he is gone. I am sure he will live in a lot of people’s memories. As expected, each child had a wonderful character in spite of their difficulties. The staff were wonderful too and I was saddened by the passing of Senor Rollo

I’m so sorry to hear about Rony. He was one of the most cheerful, determined people I have met. And ditto Rollo – he was such a pillar of strength in the home.
So very hard for you at this time and sorry to hear about Rony.
Please stay safe.

Thank you for this update. It is so much easier to pray for the Home if you are updated.
I remember both Rollo and Ronni so well and have photos of both. I am thankful for their lives and that they are now resting in peace. I don’t know how the Home will manage without Rollo, he was such a tower of strength. Neither of them will ever be forgotten.
In memory of Annabel who did so much to help this wonderful charity
